Welcome to The Crucible pages!
The Crucible by Arthur Miller is a play written in the early 1950s during the time of McCarthyism, when the government blacklisted accused communists. Miller himself was questioned by the House of Representatives' Committee on Un-American Activities in 1956. The play was first performed on Broadway on January 22, 1953.
In May 1999, my university Drama group performed the play. The pages herein are a sample of the process that went into the making of the production.
